Investing Whilst Abroad- Insurance Bonds Versus Platforms

Working abroad can be stressful enough without having to work out the best way of investing your capital. For sure you are trying to build up a nice capital sum while you are overseas but which is the best way to do it?

In our opinion whilst there can sometimes be a place for using life assurance tax wrappers (sometimes called investment bonds) beware advisers who don’t, can’t or won’t offer an alternative. In a few jurisdictions these wrappers can have positive tax benefits but in many circumstances they offer no added value and can mean significantly higher costs and charges often with limited investment options and other restrictions when it comes to withdrawing your capital.

Where there is no value add we always prefer to recommend an open architecture platform approach which gives you the client a transparent low-cost flexible investment with no annoying lock ins or hidden charges and with on line access to reports and valuations.

If you think your investments would benefit from this type of approach then arrange a call and we can discuss the merits of investing via a platform arrangement.
